Museo Frida Kahlo

She lived here with her husband Diego Rivera from 1929 until her death

Admirers of Frida Kahlo will want to visit the Museo Frida Kahlo, or Casa Azul, where the legendary artist lived, worked and died – as her art attests – in the considerable suffering of her broken body. The collections are not particularly vast, but the museum offers an interesting glimpse into the daily life of the national heroine. Two rooms are preserved as lived in by Frida and her husband Diego Rivera, and the rest contain drawings and paintings by both, including interesting sketches of archaeological sites. Frida was very interested in folk art, illustrated by the small collection of regional costumes on display. There also numerous cuttings attesting the couples devotion to socialist causes. The outside patio is shady and pleasant, with bubbling fountains and video footage of the couple. The photo of Rivera petting a hairless Aztec dog is particularly charming. The film Frida was partly shot here.
