Cataviña has a small grocery store/Café La Enramada and the only Pemex station on the 227-km stretch from El Rosario to the Bahía de Los Angeles junction (there are in fact two fuel stations, but do not rely on either having supplies). Approximately 2 km north of Cataviña there are some easily accessible cave paintings near Km 170 on the Transpeninsular Highway. Highway 1 continues southeast through an arid world of dry salt lakes and boulder-strewn mountains. A new graded road branches off east to Bahía San Luis Gonzaga.
