El Aljibe

Originally opened in 1947 as Rancho Luna, drawing 1950s movie stars like Eva Gardner and Errol Flynn with its secret recipe for roast chicken. Following the Revolution the restaurant closed in 1961, but reopened again as El Aljibe by state-run Cubanacán in 1993 and the original owner Sergio García Maciás began to bring his famed pollo al Aljibe to a new generation of movie stars, including Jack Nicholson, Steven Spielberg and Danny Glover. Open, breezy, framework design and friendly atmosphere. Generous portions of delicious black beans, rice, fried potatoes and salad, with more if you want, CUC$12 per person.
