Ins and outs

A spectacular 110-km road runs south east from Bogotá to Villavicencio, at the foot of the eastern slopes of the Eastern Cordillera. A tunnel has reduced the journey by road from Bogotá to 1½ hours. The airport, La Vanguardia, is 4 km northwest of the town. The bus station is outside town on the ring road to the east, on Avenida del Llano. A taxi costs US$2.

Air

To Bogotá, Aires 2 a day, Satena 1-2 a day. To Puerto Carreño, Satena 5 a week. To Medellín, Satena 2 a week. Satena also flies to a number of other destinations in Los Llanos.

Bus

To Bogotá, colectivos and mini vans leave 20 times a day from 0400-2000, US$12, 1½ hrs.
