The Colombian Amazon’s second largest settlement after Leticia, this little riverside village has banned all motorized traffic. As a result, it’s a tranquil place, its streets no more than pathways, immaculately swept and lined with flowers and herbaceous borders, while most of its houses are brightly painted with carefully tended gardens. There’s also an emphasis on good environmental practice; Puerto Nariño has plans to become Colombia’s first environmentally sustainable town.
