La Avenida Paulista, avenida de la vida
The 1.7-mile road is one of the main arteries of Sao Paulo and is lined with business centers and shopping malls. Gone are the days when this imposing, part-neoclassical, part-oriental residences of the coffee barons loomed -- the present-day buildings are characterized by steel and glass architecture. The Avenida Paulista has some major cultural institutions in Sao Paulo -- especially the remarkable Sao Paulo Museum of Art.
