Chelsea Market

Built in a former Nabisco factory, Chelsea Market is a behemoth of food, food and more food. It's actually a 22-building complex that fills two entire city blocks - it also houses The Food Network, EMI Music Publishing, and Google. Though the food can be a bit expensive ($8-12 for a sandwich or entree), it's still cheaper than anything else in the area and the variety is unbeatable. Try Buon Italia if you are looking for a picnic lunch to take on the Highline, Amy's Bread for sandwiches, Fatwich Bakery for sweets, and 9th St. Espresso for a good cup o' joe.

Chelsea Market is hard to find, which makes it the more appealing, because it's not very crowded. I love the variety of stores in there and the atmosphere in general. Not just when it is raining outside a true landmark in NYC.
