Spectacular sunsets and sea views lead nature to your door. Bethells Beach Cottages provide an exceptional New Zealand accommodation experience never to be forgotten. Surrounded by mountains and the Tasman Sea and sheltered from the wind by spectacular 200 year-old Pohutukawa trees, our two holiday cottages are sunny and North facing and set amongst lush gardens.

Each of the two cottages is fully self contained and private, with access to a large brick barbecue for fine weather cooking and entertaining. The vast front lawn is ideal for games and the gardens are thoughtfully designed for relaxation. 

The 80m2 (860 sq ft) Te Koinga Cottage offers a superb home away from home experience, with two bi-folding doors that open on to a generous wooden deck and fantastic sea views. Ideally suited for two couples or a family. Te Koinga is equally suitable as a winter or summer getaway. Set under the shade of a magnificent sprawling Pohutukawa tree and surrounded by picturesque gardens that offer lovely views and privacy, Te Koinga embraces the outdoors with extensive decking perfectly suited to alfresco dining and rest and relaxation in the sun. Comfortably furnished and tastefully presented with wood panelled and cream/tan rag rolled walls, Te Koinga offers a superbly relaxing atmosphere.

The bathroom includes both a shower and a bath and the open planned kitchen is equipped with a microwave, large fridge/freezer, stove, dishwasher and coffee maker. The two bedrooms have carpet and expand out in to the open plan dining and kitchen area and separate bathroom and toilet. Amenities include an outdoor shower, large sun umbrella, parking to your door and access to the Hot Tub (with sea views).

With its Kiwi bach type atmosphere and double bi -folding doors that open from the conservatory onto a picturesque garden and extensive sea views, Turehu Cottage is the ideal holiday location for a couple and child or two friends. The cottage has a conservatory/ lounge, dining table and bathroom (shower/ toilet) and kitchen. Turehu Cottage is well equipped with all the modern conveniences, including a microwave oven, stove, large fridge/freezer, coffee plunger and all kitchen and dining amenities.

There are a choice of outdoor dining locations. Either under one of the many sprawling Pohutukawa trees that abound on the property, on the hillside bench/table overlooking the beach and Bethell's Valley beyond or on your front lawn with all views. Gentle cream walls with white trim and cork and slate floors create a warm, tasteful and comfortable atmosphere allowing you to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the most majestic of Auckland's west coast beaches (one of Auckland's best kept secrets!).

The Wairua Apartment, ideal for a couple is modern, bright, airy, warm, relaxing, cosy and well appointed. This modern and cosy apartment with its outdoor patio and expansive north facing views offers everything you need for a relaxing cosy weekend escape. The queen size bedroom, kitchen, dining and lounge provide plenty of space to relax and enjoy your well deserved time out.

We make the beds and put out fresh towels to enable our guests to relax and soak up the atmosphere.

If you don't remember to bring your favourite food and champagne - remember that we can provide you with an array of home cooked specialties by prior arrangement, when staying at either Te Koinga or Turehu Cottage, and a fantastic wine list which includes New Zealand beers and New Zealand and international fine wines. Oh, and we always have a bottle of chilled French Champagne on hand for those extra-special occasions!
