2167 meters high in the Upper Sesis Valley, under the jurisdiction of Sappada, the Calvi Refuge can be reached by hiking half an hour from a parking lot along the main Sesis Valley road. The path is signposted 132. The Calvi is open from mid June to late September, has some eighty beds and fifty berths, and belongs to the Sappada branch of the Italian Alpine Club. It was built in 1926, and it's dedicated to a local patriot hero of the Italian Indipendence Wars of the 19th century. The Calvi is about one hour away from the Sorgenti del Piave Refuge, which is quite easy to be reached from Cima Sappada. A very interesting hiking trail leads from the Calvi to the Austrian Sanctuary of Maria Laggau. This trail takes abour five hours.
