The Parco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi is situated in the Veneto Region, precisely in the southern section of the Province of Belluno, at less than one hundred kilometers from the town of Venice. Dominated by the dolomite walls of the Schiara (2565 m), the Park is home to a great variety of morphological landscapes.
Thematic routes - such as the Way of the Hospices - have been chosen among the most representative routes to describe one specific feature of the territory. The itinerary follows the ancient route connecting the Piave Valley with the Agordino area, along which you will meet some hospices of medieval origin. The signs of history, so frequent along the itinerary, invite you to to discover places of great charm and interest, like Certosa in Vedana, the little village of San Gottardo, the hospices of Candàten and Agre, the Mines of Valle Imperina. The importance of this ancient route was especially due to the need of ensuring the passage of metals extracted from the Agordino mineral deposits, but, of course, also to transhumance.
