Petaling Street travel guide

Petaling street, or the original Chinatown of KL, is a great kitschy, loud, bustling market which specializes in 'genuine fakes' or 'real copies' of big branded items. If you're not too principled about your purchase, or really badly want a Rolex for less than $20, this is the place for you. The key is to bargain, bargain, bargain. There is some more variety, and you might find interesting souvenirs to take back. The street thrives after dusk and gets busier and stays that way until the early hours of the morning. It is also a great place to eat street food, and fresh fruit. Try the coconut rice or satays down Jalan Sultan or head down Jalan hang Lekir for some great food. Not a good idea to bring along very small children, it is quite crowded and noisy.
