white sand beach, far from civilization!
Lopes Mendes Beach is the most beautiful in Ilha Grande and some say the second in Brazil.
The beach is really a paradise! 3 km of white sand, nature close to the beach, always sunny. Indigenous people were living here, and after colonization it became a huge plantation. There was a plan to build a resort recently, but protests stopped the project. The beach is itself is totally wild and untouched. The best way to reach it from the village Abraao is by walking. You have to leave early in the morning and will pass by other nice beaches, where you can relax for a while and take a swim. But do not forget: the final destination is Lopes Mendes! Take help from local fisherman who can give you a cheap ride from Pouso beach if you are tired and need a shortcut. After a long way, you will reach the paradise and never forget it!
