The newest haunt among snowboarders, THE BLOCK at Big Bear features an environment that suits the casual lifestyles of snowboarders world-wide. Having just opened their doors on July 1, 2005 THE BLOCK is a tribute to the conceptual prowess of snowboarding pioneer Marc Frank Montoya and Las Vegas hotelier Liko S. Smith. This innovative hotel property is positioned on the southern shores of Big Bear Lake, within one mile of Big Bear Village.
This industrial hotel offers complimentary snowboard/ski waxing in the Blue Bird wax room, movie and video-game rentals and continental breakfasts on the weekends. In addition to a seasonal pool and spa tub, THE BLOCK at Big Bear boasts a 1,200-square-foot deck, where guests can barbecue or relax by the gas-powered fire pit. The Lobby, sponsored by Orange County's Liberty Board Shop, features a pool table, a PlayStation 2, several computers with Internet connections and cameras for sending photographs.
The guestrooms at this non-smoking hotel are arranged in a fashion celebrating the natural space of each area, and the haute lifestyle of mountain gods. With basic amenities such as wireless Internet access, cable television and optional kitchenettes, the "Old School" rooms are economical, and suited for budget-driven agendas. Meanwhile, catering to the comforts of their niche market, THE BLOCK offers standard guestrooms featuring either one or two king beds, down comforters, snowboard racks, boot dryers/glove warmers, wireless Internet access, Play Station 2's, high-definition televisions and complimentary energy bars and drinks. For ultimate bragging rights, guests can reserve one of the signature guestrooms, which are professionally assembled by sponsors like Spy Optic and Zoo York, and encourage the evolution of snowboarding as a fundamental way of life. This property does not accept pets.
