In a region with hotels of all kinds but mostly indifferent, CASABELA appears like some sort of a model and exception. If you have ever wondered what the Algarve was like years ago, this is definitely the place to go. Dont miss the enchantment of an early February short-break when the whole countryside is blanketed with white almond blossom. The Casabela resort will never be affected by the tourist traffic that has invaded the towns around, simply because the hotel is surrounded by 6 hectares of land. It has now became an astonishing green oasis of the good life and a welcome haven of peace expertly managed by a multi-lingual couple much in evidence in the hotel. CASABELA is a panoramic hotel of striking originality and character, splendidly situated on a rocky headland with dramatic views of the Atlantic Ocean. It is modern yet elegant and blends wonderfully with the surrounding private nature reserve combining lush sub-tropical gardens (automatically water-sprinkled) with exhilarating walks through olive, orange, lemon, fig, carob and almond groves down to the very pretty sandy beach (10 minutes stroll). The restaurant is ideally situated, with superb views out to sea. The food is expertly prepared using fresh local products cooked in a traditional portuguese style, and is served by friendly and attentive staff. A wide choice of portuguese wines is available. If you have a 'sweet tooth' you will not fail to be impressed by the dessert table. All bedrooms are quite similar but very well conceived, elegantly furnished and decorated yet extremely comfortable with practical Portuguese materials. They all have a good-sized balcony ideal for breakfast 'a deux' . with the sweeping view of the coastline below an overwhelming experience. And when, at the end of the day, a blood-red sun sinks in the Ocean just in front of your eyes, then CASABELA is a magical place.
