An excellent hotel in the 4*category and in durban's very best location. the level of service at the hotel is excellent and the terrace is one of durban's best places to watch the sunset. (ro 06/06). although recently renovated the hotel has retained its traditional facade, it is a white 3 storey building that is over 100 years old. architecturally one of the finest buildings on the ocean front. all the rooms are medium in size whilst the decor reflects the colonial style of the hotel. each room has a comfortable dark wood bed, writing desk and tea/ coffee making facilities, as well as a safe, satelite tv and 24 hour room service. situated on the ground floor serving the highest quality local and international cuisine. breakfast, lunch and dinner can be taken inside the hotel or on the popular terrace at the front of the hotel. the lobby is medium in size and open plan, it has a dark wood reception area, marble floor and incorporates a small seating area for guests comfort. situated on durban's 'golden mile' and famous marine parade with views of the indian ocean, the balmoral is close to many of the city's entertainment venues. the hotel is just a 20 metre walk to the sandy beach and seen as the ideal location for those wanting to be in the middle of the city.
