This Grade II listed landmark building was built in 1911 by Samuel Ryder, doner of golfs prestigious Ryder Cup, to house the business offices of his successful seed company. It retains many original features including leaded light room screens, sweeping staircase and a magnificent mahogany and stained glass dome. Ryder's original fireplace surround, complete with hand carved initials still stands in his private office which is now the principal meeting room. The Hotel is in the heart of St.Albans City Centre close to some excellent shopping, restaurants and traditional pubs. With St.Albans excellent Abbey Cathedral, Verulamium Park and Roman Museum, Whipsnade Zoo and the Gardens of the Rose close by, there is something for everyone. In Ryder's Restaurant and bar youi will find excellent food and drink available. Take advantage of the all day coffee bar. There is also a range of wines to complement your meal. There are 3 meeting rooms all with air conditioning that can accommodate 2 to 40 guests for a variety of occasions. We cater for any event from training courses to private dinners.
