<b>Location.</b> The Tides Inn is located in Irvington, Va., two miles from Christ Church. <br><b>Hotel Features.</b> Along the banks of a private peninsula, the Tides Inn features an 18-hole golf course, full-service spa, and 160-slip marina. Converted into a hotel in 1947, the Tides Inn was once the Ashburn Farm. The hotel was built using local timber, including walnut and Cyprus paneling from local trees. Resort fees include complimentary evening cruises aboard the Miss Ann, a 127-foot yacht. Made of Norwegian steel the plated hull, two-inch teak decks and fifty-inch bronze propellers vessel was built in 1924 and later refurbished by the hotel in 1993. Miss Ann is available for additional brunch, cocktail and whiskey cruises by appointment. The Tides Marina can accommodate vessels up to 125 feet and provides a creek side pool, wireless Internet access and tennis courts. The Marina houses the Primer Sailing School offering sailing courses for children older than six years while US sailing certificate courses are offered for their parents. Surrounded by natural landscaping around a 50-acre lake, the 18- hole golf course at the hotel provides views of Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay. The Gold Eagle golf course features Bermuda fairways, Bentgrass putting surfaces and three major water hazards. Private lessons and golf carts are available. The Spa at the hotel provides body and massage treatments, and facials. Salon services at the spa include manicures, pedicures and hairstyling. The Chesapeake Club is located in the East Room and a separate Lounge and serves American cuisine and an extensive wine list. Commodores Restaurant serves causal fare pool side while Cap'n B's serves New Orleans cuisine under a hammered tin ceiling at the Gold Eagle Golf Club clubhouse. <br><br><b>Guestrooms.</b> All of the 106 guestrooms at the Tides Inn provide include balconies or patios and most feature water views. Bedding includes Egyptian linens and feather duvets. High- speed Internet access, newspapers, and nightly turn down service are included in the resort fee. All rooms provide CD players and minibars. Guest bathrooms feature custom-fitted marble and mahogany fixtures. Complimentary toiletries and bathrobes are provided. <br><br><b>Expert Tip.</b> Holes 5, 9 and 18 at the Golden Eagle Golf Course are the most challenging. At Hole 5, the toughest on the course, players must carry the water that guards the whole left side.
