<b>Location.</b> Hotel Il Palazzo is located in Assisi, Italy, in the historical heart of the town, 100 metres from the Basilica of Saint Francis, and 300 metres from the Roman Temple of Minerva. Assisi's railway station is five kilometres away. <br><b>Hotel Features.</b> The Hotel Il Palazzo occupies a wing of Palazzo Bartocci Fontana, built in the 16th century by local architect Giulio Danti, and still run by his descendants. The first floor salon features 18th-century canvas wall paintings by Antonio Nessi. Multilingual staff at the front desk can assist with tourist queries, and secure valuables in the safe-deposit box. Limited hours room service is available, and there is parking nearby. <br><br>A complimentary continental breakfast is served daily in the salon or in guestrooms on request. <br><br>Bicycles and scooters can be rented nearby and there are also facilities for swimming and tennis. There is a nine-hole golf course in Casalini by Lake Trasimeno. <br><br><b>Guestrooms.</b> The 11 guestrooms at Hotel Il Palazzo have individual and antique furnishings, and some have original oak or poplar beams and views over the valley and Umbrian hills. All rooms have televisions, telephones and private bathrooms with showers and hair dryers. <br><br><b>Expert Tip.</b> The Basilica of Saint Francis was damaged in the earthquake of 1997 but has been repaired with its frescoes by Giotto and Simone Martini intact. The eponymous saint is buried in the crypt.
