Location. The Sofitel El Gezirah is located in Cairo, Egypt, within two kilometres of the ancient artefacts of the Egyptian Museum and the city's Opera House. The historic centre of Cairo is six kilometres from the hotel. Opera metro station is 800 metres away.

Hotel Features. Teetering on the edge of the Nile, this canary-coloured high-rise hotel has undergone recent renovation under the eye of French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. Rochon's touches include a full-length arched window in the lobby from which guests can overlook the river. Multilingual staff at the 24- hour front desk keep a safe deposit box. There is also a concierge desk, delicatessen and hair salon on site.

Sofitel El Gezirah has five restaurants all with terraces. El Kebabgy serves Middle Eastern specialities while Vendome provides international fine dining. Bar/restaurants Budda, Sud and Paradise Island serve international and Mediterranean dishes.
