The Spirit of /Tailor-Made/ Accommodation The Royal Windsor Hotel Grand Place in Brussels has opted for extreme personalisation by entrusting the decoration of a selection of their guest rooms to Belgian famed Fashion Designers. The Fashion rooms offer a fundamentally different world of experience to travellers seeking novelty sensation and exclusivity. The Belgian stylists Mademoiselle Lucien Jean-Paul Knott Gerald Watelet and Marina Yee have designed the first four Fashion rooms. Six other Fashion Rooms have just opened to create unforgettable nights at the Royal Windsor Hotel Grand Place. They feature artistry by six Belgian fashion designers representing widely different styles Haider Ackermann Pascale Kervan Nina Meert Romy Smits Kaat Tilley and Nicolas Woit. The two latest Fashion Rooms designed by Christian Wijnants and Xavier Delcour were launched in 2007.
All Fashion Designers express a very different vision of fashion and share a preference for an art of living that is in harmony with the art of dressing.
-Jean-Paul Knott has created a very minimalist room with straight lines a retro projector and a HIFI system with his selection of CDs and DVDs and bamboos outside the window. The emphasis is on bareness but without being cold. Main colours and textures matt gray floor white walls a dark brown Delvaux leather bedspread
-Romy Smits has created a colourful room that she calls /the Rebirth Suite/ a space for inspiration where you can relax body and soul experience feelings of love passion and happiness. Each part of the room has a different colour to feel a different feeling. Main colours and textures green red black pink and silver
-Gerald Watelet has created a traditional yet modern ambience which is cosy without being heavy. The marriage of styles and the inclusion of personal items naturally give life to the room. Main colours and textures light green on the walls beige linen for the sofa and the bedspread a dark brown carpet
-Pascale Kervan sets a tone of modernised refinement with a thick black carpet in black and off-white velvet brushed aluminium Plexiglass and opaline colours. Some geometry made-to-measure contrasts that create harmony and hand-made additions a touch of modernity that revitalises classicism.
-Mademoiselle Lucien has created a room that is a dedication to a voyage between Orientalism and Art Deco inspired by the dancer and choreograph Akarova. Main colours and textures light gray on the walls orange in the velvet of the bedspread and Moroccan sofa Alcantara recovering the desk...
-Haider Ackermann has created a room highlighting the eclecticism of genres between modernity ethnicity and antiquity On the walls an ancient wall covering painted in gray and black a black Indian bed cover Moroccan tables
-Kaat Tilley Fashion Room offers a dream atmosphere and opens the doors to the world of imagination. Swathed solely and uniquely in the colour of the dawn this room proves to be a restful place with calm and purity.
-Marina Yee invites you to discover her universe by mixing open spaces organic forms innovative materials and bright colors. She designed a room where space and light play together and complement each other. Main colours and textures 11 different whites bright red purple yellow
-Nina Meert Fashion Room offers you freshness and serenity. The walls are entirely covered with frescos /Pompeii/ painted by an Italian artist with sand from rivers the floor is ceruse wood and Roman stone. There is a dressing for you to take the time to choose your clothes and to dress up. Main colours and textures pastel warm colours wood linen natural silk
-Nicolas Woit has put his signature to a very glamorous luxurious Fashion Room. The lounge is composed of an impressive sofa and pouf covered by a fuchsia velvet. The bed is covered with a high couture patchwork quilt in saffron orange green bright pink tones and the bedroom offers a stellar sky.
-Xavier Delcour's Fashion Room is black. And white. Like a night when everything is possible. The room is striking but it doesn't dazzle. It sparkles. Promises of the celebration to come and the immediate pleasure proclaimed by its creator. Xavier Delcours Fashion Room resembles him intimately. You enter and it's like visiting an apartment. Well defined areas harmoniously orchestrated into a total space that is in essence quite restrained. Xavier Delcours Fashion Room is a /jewel casket/.
-Christian Wijnants A mirrored floor-to-ceiling partition gives the room rhythm separates it while at the same time making it appear larger. Almost no furniture since there are discreet utility walls. There are niches and alcoves for practical items and detail. The wardrobe safe and bar are revealed by lightly touching the wall partitions with the fingers. Another special feature is the Tivoli radio in the bedroom and bathroom a beautiful object that is heard but not seen /In conventional hotel rooms you have no choice but to turn on the television to have sound/ says Christian.
