Zielona Góra (Prasia Elysiorum, Thalloris, Viridis Mons, Mons Viridis; Grünberg in Schlesien) is a city in western Poland with 118,730 inhabitants (2004) within the city limits and 294 thousand inhabitants (2005) within the metropolitan area (the town itself and two neighbouring counties). The town is situated in the Lubusz Voivodeship (since 1999). It hosts regional parliament (sejmik), marshall and self-government of Lebus Voivodeship. Previously capital of Duchy of Zielona Góra and Zielona Góra Voivodeship (1975-1998). (...) more....
