Ulvik is on the Osafjord, surrounded by 1600 m high mountains. This is the home of Norway's oldest state school for fruit cultivation, built in 1765. The church was erected above a 13th century stave church. Its altar panel, dating to 1630 and the interior, decorated with painted ivy, are lovely.
