Leikanger

is a municipality in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.
Leikanger was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Balestrand was separated from Leikanger in 1850. The parts of Leikanger lying south of Sognefjorden were transferred to Lærdal and Vik January 1, 1992.
The county administration of Sogn og Fjordane is located in Leikanger. The center of Leikanger/Hermansverk has 1965 inhabitants (2006). (...) more....
