Forde

Førde is a municipality in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.
Førde was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Naustdal was separated from Førde January 1, 1896.
The center of Førde has 8799 inhabitants (2006).
Førde Airport, Bringeland is the regional airport (16 kilometres from the city centre), and flights connect Oslo and Bergen with Førde. The largest hospital in Sogn og Fjordane county is located here. The annual international Førde Folk Music Festival is held during the summer. The local newspaper is called Firda. The hospital in Førde serves a catchment-area of aprox. 100 000 people. (...) more....
