The remains of the palace built in the 10th and 11th centuries and extended in the 12th century – and therefore Hungary’s oldest royal palace
The János Vitéz Hall with its Renaissance frescoes, the room in which King Stephen was probably born, and the early Gothic castle chapel, which is a gem of religious architecture at the transition from Romanesque to Gothic, deserve special mention. At the southern and western side of the royal palace wall remains from the 14th and 15th century fortifications still survive.
