El-Mua’yyad Mosque, also called El-Ahmar, “the red one”. It was begun in 1405 under Sheik El-Mahmoudi Mua’yyad and only completed in 1410, one year after his death. The bronze gate at the entrance is from the Sultan Hassan Mosque and is regarded as the most beautiful in Cairo. In the triple-aisled prayer hall, the painted wood roof is noteworthy.
