Playa Michigan travel guide

As Playa Michigan is a breeding beach for sea turtles, you might want to come during breeding time for some exceptional experiences.

By car: From Acapulco or Zihuatenejo, follow the Mex 200 to Tecpán. Somewhere in the west of Tecpán a quite bumpy dirt track leaves the Mex 200 to the South, passing palm and other plantages. You finally reach a parking lot at the edge of the lagoon. If no one is waiting there, blow your car's horn and someone will eventually come and bring you to the beach on the other side of the lagoon.

By bus: Second class buses from Acapulco to Zihuatenejo or vice versa usually stop in Tecpán, however, let the driver know you want to get down there..
From Tecpán, you can take a cab to the parking lot at the lagoon mentioned above.

Playa Michigan doesn't have any hotels or hostels. However, some locals make homemade food (fresh fish, seafood, eggs, quesadillas, etc.) for tourists. They also lend you a hammock for free - or you bring a tent and sleep there.

Food and drinks are very cheap with the locals, and that's pretty much all you need in Playa Michigan besides maybe some change for some dryed cocos, so you can make a nice bonfire in the evening...
