Ko Tarutao is largest of a total of 51 islands that were assimilated into a national park as early as 1974
The archipelago was once a haunt of pirates and smugglers.On Ko Tarutao visitors have the choice of staying in bungalows, small cabins and bamboo houses. On the neighbouring island of Ko Adang only bamboo houses are available. Camping is allowed in some places. Getting There
From Pak Bara Harbour (about 65km/40mi north of Satun) ferries cross to the main island of Ko Tarutao twice a day during the busy season from November to April. During the other months there is practically no service due to the monsoon weather and all accommodation closes down.
