Middleton''', 44.94°North 65.07°West is a town on the Annapolis River in Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada. As of 2001 the population was 1,744.
It was incorporated in 1909 and located approximately at the centre of the Annapolis Valley. From a transportation perspective, Middleton is at the junction of Highway 101 (which connects Halifax to Yarmouth via the Annapolis Valley) and Trunk 10 (which connects Middleton to Bridgewater and Lunenburg) Founded by New England and Loyalist settlers it is a local service centre for surrounding agricultural areas. It is also heavily influenced by CFB Greenwood in nearby Kings County. Middleton is home to Middleton Regional High School. In the summer it hosts Heart of the Valley Days. Middleton is home to the Annapolis Valley MacDonald Museum, which is housed in the original MacDonald Consolidated School. This school, founded in 1903, was the first consolidated school in Canada, established with a grant from the MacDonald Tobacco Company of Montreal. The Museum has many travelling exhibits, and is the home of the Nova Scotia Museum Clock collection. Middleton also has a town crier, who has performed his functions for the town since 1984. He has attended all Heart of The Valley parades, and attended town crier competitions in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, England and Belgium on behalf of the town. (...) more....
