The capital of the Mexican state of Sonora

Holidaymakers travelling to or from the USA traverse the agrarian Mexican federal state of Sonora. The main traffic artery on the Pacific coast, the MEX 15, begins at the border town Nogales, an approximately 1.5-hour drive from Tuscon (Arizona). Travellers arriving from the south often cross the border into Baja California at Guaymas.
