The crest of this rise forms the site of Ludlow Castle http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2017 and was the location of the market place http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/453813 of the original town, and from there the streets of the medieval town http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4552 sloped downward http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/520099 to the Teme http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/588842, or northward toward the Corve tributary http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/532067. The town is in a sheltered spot beneath the Clee Hills http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/452923 which are clearly visible from the town.
