Murrells Inlet is a census-designated place (CDP) in Georgetown County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 5,519 at the 2000 census. It was once primarily a fishing village, but has built up in modern time, along with the rest of the Grand Strand into a popular tourist and retirement location. It is most known for Restaurant Row a cluster of award-winning seafood and barbecue restaurants on its Main Street. There is also a local island in the inlet named Goat Island. The town gained some minor national fame when it featured the lowest average gasoline price in the nation, at $2.18 a gallon. (...) more....
