Kahuku is a community and a census-designated place (CDP) in the Ko olauloa District on the Island of O ahu, City & County of Honolulu. In Hawaiian, ka huku means "the projection", presumably a reference to Kahuku Point nearby, the northernmost point of land on the island of O ahu. As of the 2000 Census, Kahuku had a total population of 2,097.
The ZIP Code for Kahuku is 96731-a fact that became well-known in the mid-1970s when a popular television game show, The Diamond Head Game, was contested on the grounds of Del Webb's Kuilima Hotel (today known as the Turtle Bay Resort), located there. At the end of each show the announcer would say, "If you plan to be in Hawai i, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Diamond Head Game, Kahuku, O ahu 96731."
