The City of Roses
Most Americans have heard of Pasadena either because they watch the Rose Bowl and the Tournament of Roses Parade every New Year's Day, or they've heard the Beach Boys sing "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena." But few know that Pasadena is actually an incredibly charming town with loads of great shopping and restaurants. Old Town and Paseo Colorado are where most of the action starts, though there are good flea markets and antiques around, as well as California's biggest swap meet held monthly at the Rose Bowl. For those more into academics and culture, Pasadena is the home of the California Institute of Technology as well as the esteemed Norton Simon Museum.
