Bay of Sebastián Vizcaíno

Watching the grey whales!

Enjoy watching the whales surface from the calm waters of the lagoons Bahía Sebastián Vizcaíno (Laguna Scammon and Laguna Ojo de Liebre) in the Bay of Sebastián Vizcaíno Bahía Sebastián Vizcaíno or in the more accessible lagoon Ignacio (located quite some distance away: take the junction on the MEX 1 at San Ignacio to the coast) whale watching. Watching the grey whales return to the bay is an impressive event each year between the end of December and March. This whale sanctuary offers magnificent sights: the whales come to the surface and, usually about 2 weeks after their return, they mate or calve.
