Anthering is located barely 10 km north of the City of Salzburg between the river Salzach and the 835 m high Haunsberg
The village is located in the Flachgau in the Province of Salzburger in the northern part of the Salzburg Basin at the northern end of the Hügelland ("Hügel" = hill) between Haunsberg and the Hochgitzen very close to the City of Salzburg
