Not long ago, Beyoğlu was considered a shabby area in Istanbul. But things have changed rapidly. Day after day, locals pour into this neighborhood to shop, meet friends in one of the plenty restaurants and bars, or just to get a sense of what a sprawling metropolis feels like. This did not go unnoticed by many tourists, and the tourism industry: Expensive hotels are being built in the area.
