It's true - on Mount Desert Island, the sun hits first in the morning - Maine is the most easternly state, and one of the most remote, even though it is small in size. Part of New England, Maine is more populous is the south, but when you head north, some towns do not even have names - they are only referred to as 'townships' and are given a number.
Maine has beautiful coasts and beautiful national parks, lakes and forests. A great place to camp, fish and hike, Maine will surprise you!
