Sand dunes, as far as the eye can see
High dunes, a sea made of sand and fiery red sunrises: This is Erg Chebbi, the biggest sand dune area of Morocco. For many desert newcomers, the Erg, the sandy desert, fulfills every cliché one can expect of a desert…But only one who explores the dunes further and spends a couple of days here, maybe even rides on a camel for a couple of hours or goes for a walk at full moon at night, can experience the true desert. The main town of the Erg Chebbi is Merzouga. The pretty hotel camp Ksar Sania in Merzouga or the lodging Kasbah Tombouctou are recommended as accommodation.
