Tetouan lies at the western foothill of the Rif mountains on a plateau and has a bad reputation, especially with people who are new to Morocco. This is not a surprise because there are a quite a few hash dealers, pickpockets and faux guides. You should still visit the Medina of Tetouan, which is protected by the Unesco since 1997, with a guide though. Arches span over the white lanes and wind in gentle curves through the town. Apart from a stroll, a visit of the ethnographic museum by the Suqs is rewarding. Hotel Chems offers accommodation.
