Abu Dhabi’s landmark is the 6km/3.7mi waterfront
Bordered by the two luxury hotels Sheraton to the east and Hilton to the west, and flanked by street lanterns shaped like traditional fortified towers, it is the ideal place to take a stroll while citizens of the more than one hundred nations living in Abu Dhabi meet here after their day’s work. Colossal artificial cliffs, at night illuminated in all the colours of the rainbow, the image of the late leader in the form of a mosaic – the modes of artistic expression are many and varied. Fountains, symbols of life in the desert, adorn not only many of the roundabouts on the numerous highways through the town, but also feature as highlights of the newly designed Corniche.
