In villages with picturesque little churche and beautiful landscapes with the broad river as backdrop time seems to have stood still on this 30 km-long island east of Québec City. Until a bridge was constructed to the mainland in 1935, the people on the island lived sheltered lives--despite the city’s proximity. A loop road offers panoramic views of Québec City and the river, and farm stands along the roads offer maple syrup, honey, cider and strawberries.
