Iceland's only "real" forest, on the Lagarfljót

Iceland's largest forest and reforestation area, with trees up to 100 years old offers interesting walks through the woods, where a mixed stand of hardwoods and conifers grows. The Hallormsstaður, a summer hotel, is situated in a pretty, quiet area, while the Atlavík campgrounds are under the trees and right next to Lake Lögurinn.
