Abou Tarek has an incredible rags to riches story... this man started out pushing a koshari street cart in Cairo in 1950, and the enterprise grew into what is now the most popular fast food restaurant in Egypt. Aside from pistachio pudding for dessert, koshari is all that is served here. It is a traditional dish of lentils, chickpeas, and rice topped with fried onions and a lemony garlic sauce. A must-have while in Egypt.
