North of Farafra, nature has created giant, blindingly white limestone formations
With a little imagination there can be seen as bizarre figures that populate the desert. A hike through this unusual scenery offers complete solitude. On the way to the Bahariyya oasis, about 20km/12mi north-east of Qasr el-Farafra, the route crosses part of the White Desert. However, the experience is much more impressive if you leave the road. This absolutely requires an experienced driver and a vehicle with four-wheel drive, which can be easily organized from Farafra and Bahariyya.
I went 2 times to visit the white desert, magic springs, Agabat, ain Khadar and every desert oasis in Egypt. These are scenic in places, people are very welcoming. We bivouac camping, everything was done so that we are satisfied it is an opportunity to share a good time around a campfire drinking a great mint tea and listening to Bedouin music. What a swell time we spent, the food was excellent and we dream that one thing is to go back. I leave you the address of our English speaking guide, he called hamada and organizes trips by 4X4, or by camel trek. Mail: desert-safari-egypte@hotmail.fr, and website: www.desert safari-egypte.com
