The Buddha of Kamakura radiates tranquility
The famous Big Buddha is the main attraction of the city. The statue dates back to the year 1252 and was once located in a temple hall, which fell victium to a huge tidal wave in 1495. Today, the Big Buddha sits outdoors – this way, its calm and harmony really comes into its own.
