Japans largest feudal castle in Himeji
Do you know a palace garden with thousands of delicate pink blossoming cherry trees, with colonnades which are padded like a carpet with magenta maple leaves? Himeji was the sublime backdrop of a samurai movie filmed by master director Akira Kurosawa in 1985. Important parts of the film of the Clavel novel “Shogun” were recorded here as well, at the greatest of twelve still well-preserved feudal castles of Japan. Unesco categorizes it as a world heritage site.
