The very young art scene is given an introduction here

After renovation and expansion (the plans were by Frederic Fisher, a student of Frank O. Gehry) the very young art scene is now given an introduction at the P. S. 1 Contemporary Art Center. The former elementary school (P.S. 1 is short for Public School 1) from 1890, together with the New Museum of Contemporary Art, fill a gap in the city.
