Apollo Theater

Apollo Theater

by Jos

The legendary Apollo Theater has a long, storied history as the famous club where so many African-American performers got their start. Ella Fitzgerald was one of the first winners of "Amateur Night," a longstanding tradition that continues to this day. Billie Holiday, James Brown, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson are just a few of the other megastars who began in this humble theater.
