A stylish city palace"Neue Galerie", built in 1914 by the architects of the New York Public Library Carrère & Hasting in the best part of New York, and recently carefully restored and named after a famous Viennese gallery, the Neue Galerie is full of Austrian and German art of the first half of the 20th century. Among the works collected by Roland Lauder, the heir to the famous cosmetic company, and his Austrian friend, the art dealer Serge Sabarsky, are some by Gustav Klimt, Max Beckmann, Oskar Kokoschka, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky or Egon Schiele. In addition there are also very beautiful furnishings and clocks from the Wiener Werkstätten as well as some sculptures.
